Welcome to my blog!!

I'm pretty new to html so I apologise if anything looks out of place, this blog will include information about all my favourite emo

I might branch out at times and talk about or mix subcultures that I have researched about with emo which I do in my own personal style.

- An introduction to Emo Fashion -

Emo, (also known as emotional hardcore) started as a music genre, a style of post-hardcore punk from the mid 1980s in the Washington D.C. hardcore music scene before making it's way all over the world in arguably the most iconic time for the subculture of emo, the early 2000s. But we will talk more about the music at a later time, because I know if I start talking I won't shut up. Fashion has always been a popular medium for people to express themselves. You can tell alot about someone from the way they dress, their taste is likely an important personality factor. Especially in something as bold as alternative fashion.

But what classifies as emo fashion?

Dark Colors: Emo fashion typically revolves around a color palette dominated by dark colours such as black, dark gray, and navy blue. However, alot of people who dress in emo fashion may have an accent colour, one that may be their favourite or just one that goes with the outfit.

The outfit: A typical emo outfit can depend upon gender, but not always. Alot of emo fashion is androgynous. Meaning any of this can be worn by any gender.

An emo outfit often includes skinny jeans, shorts or sometimes skirts usually paired with stripey socks or fishnet tights. On the top half, you would typically see

  • band t-shirts. (featuring emo band merchandise or album art)
  • character t-shirts
  • text t-shirts (with edgy(🤢) writing)

On the feet of an emo you would typically see Converse or vans.

Accessories: Accessories play a crucial role in emo fashion and are one of the easiest ways to make your outfit stand out in the emo subculture. Studded belts, wristbands, and chokers are popular accessories that add an alternative element to an outfit. Band patches, buttons, and badges featuring logos of favorite bands or characters are often displayed proudly on clothing or bags, serving as conversation starters and markers of shared musical taste or other shared media.

Hairstyles: Hairstyles are, if not 𝙩𝙝𝙚 most, prominent feature of emo fashion, often characterized by long, side-swept bangs, dyed any colour but more typically black, they are a hallmark of emo subculture. A common misconception is that you need to have this hair to achieve the emo style, which is not true. There are lots of different ways to stand out as emo. Another misconception is that emo hair has to be straight, which is completely incorrect.
